History
The Dream is real...
Along with the first Quilt Show in Stevenson, WA in the year 2000
quilters had a dream to bring a guild to the Columbia River Gorge.
For six years, the three-day September show grew, drawing national
teachers, providing local classes, quilt judging, a shop walk,
posters and many, many vendors. The show was a local treasure
with a regional reputation. The Guild continues the legacy; we
are building upon that foundation formed by the many dedicated
quilters of the Stevenson Quilt Show, hence our name, Columbia
River Gorge Quilters’ Guild. (CRGQG) We honor all the quilters
from the past and embrace our new members. The CRGQG reaches out
to quilters on both sides of the Columbia River from Washougal,
WA to Arlington, OR; from Goldendale, WA to Grass Valley, OR.
Our membership grew to over 100 quilt enthusiasts in 2007. Our
members reach well beyond the Gorge. CRGQG holds a national-level
quilt show in the Gorge bringing celebrity teachers to the area
for the benefit of members and guests, the first to be in the
year 2008. Many quilters stitched their way to where we are today
and all deserve our heartfelt thanks. Past quilters started something
that grew an organized Guild and Gorge Quilt Show. The Guild applauds
those who quilt in Moro, Wamic, Carson, Goldendale, Cascade Locks,
Lyle, Grass Valley, Maupin and all the places in-between. The
Guild serves you, your group and quilting.
